FCS All-Electric Injection Molding Machine, Leading The Way Of Smart Meter

Smart Meter Serving as the Monitor in Carbon Neutral

Under the discussion about net zero emissions, carbon neutral and other issues, monitoring the operation efficiency of electricity through a smart grid at any time is also a key link in addition to actively developing carbon reduction measures, among which "smart meters" are one of the core projects of smart grid.

Compared with traditional electricity meters, smart meters have the advantage of built-in WiFi technology, which enables remote access to electricity data through the communication system, eliminating manual meter reading. Not only is the visualization, timeliness, and reliability of power management improved but also consumers can check the electricity consumption situation through the APP, and achieve automatic power saving by combining it with the control of the smart house system.

In Taiwan's 2050 Net Zero Emissions Path, one of the milestones is the smart meter deployment rate reaching 100% by 2035, meaning that the traditional meters in every household must be replaced with smart meters. As of June 2022, nearly 1.7 million meters have been deployed throughout Taiwan.

Professional Injection Knowledge is the Key to a High Market Share of Smart Meters

A valuable FCS client founded in 1992 in northern Taiwan was originally a plastic steel mold manufacturer. Aiming at the huge market of smart meters, it started to invest in an injection molding factory in 2019 and specialize in the production of smart meter parts cover. Currently, its smart meter's market share has now reached a quarter of Taiwan's market share.

During the equipment procurement, FCS, with its 48 years of experience in manufacturing injection molding machines, provided professional knowledge and comprehensive services, distinguishing itself from its Japanese all-electric injection molding machine competitors. It won the favor of the customer who purchased six FCS All-electric injection molding machines (CT-e series) and one Thermosetting injection molding machine (HN-U series) at a time.

FCS All-Electric Technique Meeting the Requirements of Precision Component Molding

The dimensional stability and weight stability of the product are crucial for customer's acceptance because the meter parts cover is assembled in multiple pieces, and the surface must have anti-flexure in the forming process to achieve the flatness required by the assembly parts.

As the production equipment to promote smart meters, FCS’ all-electric injection molding machine (CT-e series) with the extreme motion control technology and European servo system, make injection accuracy up to 0.01mm. which perfectly realizes the required molding conditions of the product.

In addition to its high accuracy, the CT-e series fully demonstrates the advantages of all-electric injection molding machines compared to smart meter manufacturers using general servo energy-saving machines:

1. High Power Saving: Equipped with full servo motor drive design with high efficiency and stability and low energy cost. Compared with common servo energy saving injection molding machines, each unit can save 6 kWh of electricity, reducing carbon emission.

2. High Productivity: Parallel movement of ejector on fly is standard, effectively shorten the cycle time. Capacity was increased by 1.5 times when being measured on the production site of smart meters.

3. High Yield: Ensure highly-responsive injection unit offers optimized pressure closed-loop algorithm, product yield is increased significantly to 98%.

MuCell Foaming Injection Molding System, the Key Technology for Mastering Carbon Footprint

According to Global Market Insights, the global smart meter market is forecast to exceed USD 55.7 billion by 2028. Facing such a huge business opportunity, FCS is not only committed to promoting intelligent manufacturing on injection molding machines but also actively developing a number of injection processes, with the expectation of working with customers to move towards carbon neutrality's core value.

In recent years, we have developed and successfully sold more than ten sets of Foaming Injection Molding sysytem (MuCell), whose physical foaming principle has good performance in being lightweight, shortening molding cycle, and improving impact resistance; for customers in automotive parts, hardware, packaging container, and footwear industries, the system is of substantial importance either to reduce losses in the production or to reduce carbon emissions.

Expert Diagnosis: Discussing the Energy-saving Management from a Carbon Neutral Perspective

Taiwan relies on imports for 98% of its energy, so it is especially important to enhance energy autonomy and diversification. Before we reach the ultimate goal of Net Zero Emissions, how to reduce the carbon footprint has become an issue of close attention in all injection molding fields.

In addition to providing professional machinery and equipment, FCS also offers special "Package Maintenance" for customers in the field of plastic injection molding, which enables our clients to quickly identify the source of problems and break through the bottlenecks in production through scientific methods and data.
