New Academia-Industry Collaboration in Action: Zhejiang Wanli University Visits FCS Group to Explore Smart Manufacturing
On May 27, 2025, in the warmth of early summer, FCS Group’s factory in Qianwan New District, Ningbo, welcomed a special group of visitors—nearly 50 faculty members and students from the Internet of Things Engineering program at Zhejiang Wanli University. Through an immersive factory visit, they explored firsthand the integration of industrial technology and IoT, bridging classroom knowledge with real-world industry practice.
Led by Mr. Chen Xiaozhou, Technical Director of FCS Ningbo, the students entered the showroom in an orderly manner, where various machine models and industry samples were on display. They learned that car parts such as headlights are produced using injection molding machines, and that colorful household items can be molded in a single shot. With the example of "the birth of a bottled water container," Director Chen vividly illustrated the practical applications of injection molding technology.
In the smart warehouse area, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) were shuttling along predetermined routes, while the WMS system automatically dispatched materials according to production plans. Large-scale processing equipment and a gantry-type coordinate measuring machine also helped the students gain a clearer understanding of modern manufacturing operations.
This exchange between campus and factory not only bridged theory and practice, but also marked a deeper evolution of academia-industry integration. When the innovative spirit of universities meets the real-world experience of enterprises, talent cultivation becomes more tangible. The collaboration between FCS Group and Zhejiang Wanli University has opened a window for students to explore the frontiers of the industry, and it showcases the immense potential of school-enterprise cooperation. As the wave of smart manufacturing continues to surge forward, such joint initiatives are sowing the seeds for the future of "Intelligent Made in China."
