Preventive Maintenance of Injection Molding Mold
Due to the specificity, precision, and fragility of the injection mold, it is very important to protect the safety of the mold. The following aspects are generally summarized:
Protect the injection mold from rusting due to water leakage, water condensation, rain and hand marks.
Protect the mold from collisions due to fracture or inadequate restoration of the ejection pin.
Remove burrs on the mold due to cloth wiping, feeding pressing, hand wiping, plastic nipper contact and knife contact.
Protect the mold from being damaged during use due to missing pull rods, gaskets and other parts.
Protect the mold from compressing damage due to clamping resulted from product residues.
Avoid voltage shortage
Protect the mold from being damaged due to excessive pressure for low-voltage protection.
Among the above, fracture or inadequate restoration of the ejection pin, product residues on the mold and missing parts are the most common causes of damages to the mold. Therefore, more than 85% of the mold damage is caused by this reason, and the maintenance cost of the mold is generally high. In order to prevent production delays caused by mold damage and high maintenance costs, and at the same time, to better save labor resources, some companies have developed a product using machine vision technology after continuous research and improvement, called “mold protector”.
Mold protector, or mold monitor, also known as mold electronic eye, can effectively protect valuable molds. Some mold experts said that the injection mold protection system, installed on the injection machine, can directly check whether the product is qualified, and check for residues before closing the mold to prevent clamping damages.
When the injection machine is running, the expensive molds may be damaged due to plastic residue or dislocation of the slider in every cycle. The mold protector can prevent these situations from happening, automatically prevent the mold from clamping when an abnormality occurs, and give an alarm.
Steps of Injection Mold Repair
When the mold is being disassembled, relocate it smoothly and avoid collision or water;
Heat the mold and apply a small amount of release agent to it;
Fully inspect the mold and make anti-rust treatment. Carefully wipe dry and wipe clean the cavity, core, ejection structure and slides, and apply anti-rust agents and machine oil to the mold.
