The visitors of 2003 NPE were less than the expectation. According to the statistics of SPI, there were 63237 registers which was 29% less than last year. But the host thought the quality of the visitors was better than last year because most of the visitors were purchasing decision makers. In addition, there were 36 exhibitors of injection moulding industry from the whole world joined the exhibition. Almost every important producer joined the show making the scale of 2003 NPE as good as K Show.
After surveying the injection molding machine exhibited in 2003 NPE, there were some focuses were emphasized including ultra thin-wall high speed injection, all-electric injection, hybrid injection, two components injection, LIM, Stake Mold technique and micro injection. There were only a few exhibitors demonstrated in mold labelingBin mold paintingBin mold decorationBgas assisted injection moldingBwater assisted injection moldingCThe molds displayed became various including house use appliance, precise electronic parts, medical instruments and auto parts. The increasing trend for demonstrating LIM (Liquid Injection Molding), Insert moulding, Stake Mold and 2 platen machine deserved to pay more attention to it. The display of ultra-thin wall injection and two components injection always catch eyes in every show. The machine with largest clamping force was 2000 tons 2 platen machine of Battenfeld. The one with smallest clamping force was the micro injection machine (3 tons) from Nissei.
The exhibitors included 10 European corporations for 27.8%, 3 from America for 8.3%, 11 from Japan for 30.6% and 12 from Asia for 33.3%. The American market is always a highly attractive market, especially for Japanese producers. It could be tell by the numbers of exhibitors and machines. In addition, Japanese companies keep on providing new types of all electric injection machines to keep the leader position in Asia.

There were 146 injection machines totally 36 injection molding machine manufacturers in the fair. Companies from different areas presented different type of machines. European companies mainly provided about 50% hydraulic machines. American companies mainly presented hybrid and all electric machines. About 80% of machines provided by Japanese companies were all electric injection machines. Companies from Taiwan, Korea and China presented almost 80% hydraulic machines. We may say that companies with different technique level will exhibit different types of machines. The European companies are the leader of hybrid machine. The American manufacturers prefer hybrid machines and all electric machines. The first priority of Japanese companies is all electric machines. The Asian companies are trying to catch them up in hybrid machines and all electric machines.

Totally speaking, the hydraulic machine had the highest ratio of demonstrated machines. Compare to 2000 NPE, the ratio of hydraulic machine was decreasing. The number of presented hydraulic machines decreased by 27%. On the other side, the ratios of hybrid machines and all electric machines are increasing. The percentage of hybrid machine increased by 15% and the percentage of all-electric machine increased by 11%.
Besides, the ratio of American hydraulic machines decreased 37.5% amazingly. The changing percentage for kinds of injection machines from different area pointed out that there were different developing concepts and trends for each area. According to the data shown above, there are great progresses in developing hybrid machine. Fu Chun Shin presented hybrid AE series at the end of 2001 was to express the trend. AE series has had great responsibility since presented.
Base on the Observation, when the Asian manufacturers are able to know the electric serve control techniques well there will be more hybrid machines in the market. Through expectation, the hydraulic machines, the hybrid machines and the all-electric machines will share the injection machine market by close percentage. |
